So What is Bariatric, Anyway?

You are probably asking yourself, what is bariatric?

Bariatrics is the field of medicine devoted to the study and treatment of the effects of obesity and the causes of obesity. This includes everything related to obesity, including diseases like diabetes and conditions like eating disorders. Basically, anyone who is receiving treatment for a serious weight problem is a bariatrics patient.

However, this doesn’t mean that you have to be struggling with a weight problem to be able to put a bariatrics scooter to use. Bariatrics scooters were designed to assist people suffering from obesity, but these scooters have also been repurposed by those who are simply built larger than the average person.

These "Big and Tall" scooters, with their heavy duty motors, strong suspension and plus sized tires, are much more comfortable than most scooters, and have high levels of durability and versatility.

As some of the heavier scooters available, bariatrics scooters can be used by average sized patients living in rural areas who need to climb steep inclines or traverse rocks, gravel, dirt and grass in their daily life.
