Easy Transport with a Folding Mobility Scooter

For many, a folding mobility scooter can be an excellent alternative to an expensive and cumbersome scooter or chair lift. Rather than having a large hunk of machinery shipped to your home and having to figure out how to install it onto the back of your vehicle, you can simply take a fold up scooter, push the handlebars down to the seat, and toss it in the trunk of your car, bed of your truck, or the backseat of your van. Drawbacks of the Foldup Scooter A folding scooter is not without its downsides. For example, it stands to reason that after a certain size, it’s just not practical for a scooter to fold up. For example, a heavy duty bariatrics scooter generally won’t be available in a foldup model. Even if you could fold it in half, it wouldn’t be likely to fit in the back of a vehicle. A folding scooter can be of great use, but only if you can manage with a more lightweight kind of mobility aid. Most foldup scooters are also a bit weaker when it comes to horsepower, performing at about the same level as a lightweight scooter. Again, for many, this might not be a problem, but if you live in an area with a lot of steep inclines or rough terrain such as unpaved roads or cracked sidewalks, it may be wiser to go for a scooter or chair lift. Convenience and Ease The main benefit of a folding scooter is that it further facilitates quick, easy, convenient mobility for the mobility limited. With a quick fold and pack, you can jump into your vehicle and drive around town with little to no problem. By comparison, scooter lift can be cumbersome and time consuming. A folding mobility scooter might not be the best choice for sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions that make heavy lifting difficult. Folding scooters generally weigh quite a bit less than your average scooter. Nonetheless, they are still scooters built to carry the weight of an adult human being, and they may simply be too heavy for many people to lift.
